Many employers run credit checks on prospective employees, saying that the credit rating will help determine if someone is trustworthy and honest. 16 states are considering banning the practice. Opponents of employee credit checks say someone with poor credit would be more eager to work and keep their job so they could improve their rating.   Should employers be banned from conducting credit checks on prospective employees?



Several states are cutting back on funding for public television as their budgets shrink. In Wyoming, the state supplies 40% of the budget for Wyoming Public Television, which includes shows like a documentary about former Senator Alan Simpson, Capitol Outlook about the Legislature, and Sesame Street.   Should the state of Wyoming cut funding for Wyoming Public Television?

The Wyoming Legislature is considering dropping the writing section from the statewide PAWS tests. Instead, students will be graded on a portfolio of writing samples done over the school year.   Should writing be part of the PAWS test, or should students be graded on numerous writing examples?

The Wyoming Liquor Division has given a $5000 grant to Casper’s Tipsy Tow program. The money will be used to reimburse cab companies for taking drunk bar patrons home who don’t have the money to pay their own way. The Natrona County Liquor Dealers Association gave a $10,000 grant to the program earlier.   Should government agencies help bear the cost of Tipsy Tow programs statewide?
